The credit union was chartered in 1957 to serve employees of the
celebrated Riverside Press in Cambridge, Massachusetts. When Riverside Press closed its doors in 1970, the credit union moved to Burlington. The charter name was changed to Houghton Mifflin Employees Federal Credit Union and extended services across the U.S.
From its office now located in Wilmington, the credit union serves employees and their families at the various Houghton Mifflin Harcourt companies located all across the country. Credit union membership is also open to Houghton Mifflin Harcourt retirees and credit union employees and their families.
